Title: Practical UX for Archives
In an increasingly digital world, how can we continue to ensure that our collections are accessible and navigable for researchers, patrons, and users? As platforms change and evolve, what tools and approaches can we integrate into our work to keep our sites intuitive and user-friendly? This workshop will introduce the field of user experience (UX) in the context of archives, focusing on actionable ways archivists can leverage UX methods to understand user needs, effectively communicate about those needs with stakeholders and technologists, and apply/advocate for actionable changes to improve systems and processes. Understanding that time and resources are limited for many practitioners, the content will focus on light-weight, iterative UX research and testing methods like usability testing that can be quickly learned and deployed for maximum impact. The event will feature a presentation sharing information, examples, and resources, followed by a workshop with planned activities and demonstrations to help participants apply concepts in their own contexts.
This is a free, in-person event limited to 40 A.R.T. Members. Please note that you MUST reserve a ticket in advance online in order to attend this event.
In the occasion that the event is sold out, we highly recommend joining the waitlist. An ART staff member will reach out to you if a spot becomes available. Unless you've been given permission, please do not show up at the event without registering.
