New York Archives Week: Tour of the Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group Collection

  • Tuesday, October 25, 2022
  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Bloomingdale Branch of the New York Public Library (150 W. 100th Street, New York, NY 10025)

The Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group maintains a collection in the Bloomingdale branch of the New York Public Library, which is always available for browsing and research when the library is open. If you have an interest in the Upper West Side or in the preservation of community history, we cordially invite you to drop in and receive a special introduction to our collection on October 25th between 4 and 6PM ET.

You can download our extensive catalog at the bottom of this page: https://www.upperwestsidehistory.org/bnhg-library-collection.html

In particular we have quite a bit of material related to the Old Community on 98th and 99th Streets before "urban renewal," a significant and vibrant African-American neighborhood.

We can accommodate about 5 people at a time by the file cabinets but an introduction will take only about 15 minutes, and then you can take files you find especially interesting to a comfortable spot in the library to read while others gather around the file cabinets.

An RSVP is suggested but not required. Please RSVP to orfeoduo@gmail.com.
