The Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York (ART) is pleased to announce its Annual Business Meeting and Board Elections to be held Thursday, June 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Metropolitan New York Library Council. Please join us to learn about the past year’s activities, as well as forthcoming initiatives and volunteer opportunities with the ART Board.
This year, we’re honored to have academic librarian, author, and activist Fobazi Ettarh as our keynote speaker. An ALA Emerging Leader, Ettarh’s research interests include critical pedagogy, equity, diversity, and inclusion within librarianship and the intersections of organizational structures, power, and labor. Ettarh will expand on concepts presented in her recent essays on “Vocational Awe” in librarianship, which have received widespread recognition, to address the similar but distinct issues impacting archivists.
The keynote will be followed by an announcement by President-Elect Deidre Dinnigan on ART’s forthcoming initiatives to empower our members through quarterly professional development workshops and other activities.
The Board Election will be held at meeting. Ballots will be available for voting and non-attending members may vote by mail. Election information, including the roster of candidates, is forthcoming on the ART website.
The ART Board elections and Annual Meeting will be followed by a wine reception with light refreshments. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the current Board Members on an individual level and gain more information and insight about the different ART committees.
Nominations are currently being accepted for Board positions. To nominate yourself or another qualified candidate, please click here to view open positions and submit your nominations by June 13, 2019.
Registration for this event is free and is only open to ART members.
