Archives Week 2015: Film Screening: Documentaries by Cuban Filmmaker Santiago Alvarez

This screening will show documentary shorts by Santiago Álvarez, the one-time head of the Cuban Film Institute's Newsreel division, known for his bold visions of cinematic solidarity with movements like the Vietnamese liberation and the African American freedom struggle.


This screening is part of Armed By Design/El Diseño a las Armas: Posters and Publications of Cuba’s Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America (OSPAAAL), a public exhibition and event series which features the graphic design production of the Organization in Solidarity with the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Based in Havana, OSPAAAL produced nearly 500 posters, magazines, and books from the late 1960s through the present.

This event is free and open to the public, by donation, and is hosted by the Interference Archive.
