Membership with the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (A.R.T.) entitles you to discounts on registration fees for our monthly programs and education workshops. In addition, A.R.T. members also enjoy access to members-only events and tours. A.R.T. members also have voting privileges for the annual A.R.T. Board elections.

From September through June, A.R.T. organizes, at minimum, one program per month. Venues for A.R.T. programs have included:

  • Center for Jewish History
  • National Archives at New York City
  • New York Public Library, Schomburg Center, and NYPL Performing Arts Libraries
  • Carnegie Hall
  • Fashion Institute of Technology
  • Noguchi Museum
  • Morris Jumel Mansion
  • Green-Wood Cemetery
  • Anthology Film Archives

(see the Event Calendar for more of our past programs)

In addition to monthly programs which focus on a particular local cultural institution or topic related to archives, A.R.T. is also committed to holding at least two educational workshops a year. There are also annual events such as the celebration of New York Archives Week every October, A.R.T. Awards Ceremony, the Annual Holiday Party, and our Year-End Meeting in June.

A.R.T. has also inaugurated another type of meeting for its members. Our small discussion groups are geared towards specific audiences within the ART community and each meeting focuses on a pre-determined topic. The idea is for ART members to share and brainstorm with their peers about issues that affect them.

An additionally important benefit in joining A.R.T. is the opportunity to network. We are part of a uniquely tight-knit professional community and it is important to meet as many people as possible to encourage professional growth. This will not only help you with your future job searches, but will also provide you with professional resources throughout your career. A.R.T. has been around for more than 30 years and represents over 215 repositories; there is a lot of wisdom and experience in the organization. You can meet other members via the A.R.T. listserv and our Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn pages.
