Job Posting: NYC Dept of Environmental Protection – Summer Internship
The Office of Records and Archives Management invites applications for three internships for summer 2008. Projects include re-housing collections, creating inventories, surveying collections and assisting with user requests. The major holdings include the long-term and permanent records produced by NYC agencies responsible for water supply and distribution dating back to 1830s, including engineering/architectural drawings, photography and administrative records.
Positions pay $9.48/hour (freshman-senior); $13.24/hour (graduate students). The position is full-time Mon-Fri, 9-5 (no weekends). Internship runs 6/01/2008 through 8/29/2008 with possibility to extend through the school year. The Archive is located in Manhattan.
Qualification requirements:

Candidates must be enrolled in a college/university program to be eligible. Must have a genuine interest in archives, history, architecture or related. Curiosity and communication skills are critical. Must be detail-oriented, have good organizational skills and be able to work independently. Must be able to lift/move 25-40 pound boxes. Must be computer literate; MS Excel is required, Adobe Photoshop and MS Access desirable. Possible continuation for fall semester also desirable.
