Digital Asset Specialist, Manager/ The Culinary Institute of America

The Culinary Institute of America, the world’s premier culinary college, is seeking to fill a Digital Asset Specialist/Manager position. This individual is responsible for gathering and properly preparing a high volume of current and historical CIA photo assets for upload into the college’s Interwoven Media Bin photo asset library. This individual is also responsible for sourcing photos for internal and external customers, training users on the system, and continuously maintaining and improving the archive.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize a high volume of photo assets (both new and historical) to be loaded into the system
  • Work closely with in-house photographer to upload new photos in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Manipulate photos (by scanning, color-correcting, cropping, etc) as well as write relevant metadata (titles, keywords, etc) for photos to be loaded into the system
  • Act as main point of contact for photo requests by receiving, tracking and responding to daily inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Set permissions for and train new users on system
  • Continually organize, maintain and improve system
  • Maintain photo guidelines and ensure uploaded photos meet quality standards
  • Work closely with IT on upgrades to system and troubleshooting problems

Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year related experience working with an image database
  • Photography background (traditional and digital)
  • Skilled in Adobe Photoshop CS3, color management, digital file properties, color correcting and light retouching
  • Experience in using both negative and flatbed scanners and related software
  • Proficient on Macintosh and PC cross-platforms
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Able to work independently and manage student workers
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, prioritization & interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of photo copyright laws
  • Familiar with conversion and processing of DNG and RAW file formats

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Interwoven’s Media Bin digital asset management system
  • Knowledge of foodservice industry and its respective terminology
