DESCRIPTION:https://www.nycarchivists.org/event-523905\n\n   Thursday\, September 13\, 2012      10am-4pm      METRO Training Center (4th floor)\n   57 E. 11th Street\n   New York\, NY 10003\n   Registration cost: $25      \n      Join us for this full-day workshop on the Archivists' Toolkit (AT)\, an open source application developed for tracking and describing special collections. Learn the many advantages and added functionalities of using the AT in your work. The AT incorporates integrated modules for accessioning\, description\, name and subject authority control\, and location management and also provides customizable reports and standardized description exports such as EAD\, MARCXML\, and METS. Topics include: creating accession records\, creating multi-level description records\, linking descriptions to authority records and locations\, and generating EAD finding aids.\n   \n   This workshop is made possible with funds from the Documentary Heritage Program of the New York State Archives\, a program of the New York State Education Department.\n      \n      Speaker Sibyl Schaefer\n   As the Head of Digital Programs for the Rockefeller Archive Center\, Schaefer manages all digital services provided by the department\, from digitization to curation. Schaefer previously was the Metadata Librarian for the University of Vermont's Center for Digital Initiatives\, where she provided metadata expertise and managed the Center's digitization projects. During that period\, the American Library Association recognized Schaefer as an Emerging Leader in the profession. Schaefer also served as the User Services Liaison on the Archivists' Toolkit project out of New York University\, a role that included providing customer support and training\, user group development\, and feature specification. She is currently a member of the Society of American Archivists' Technical Subcommittee for the revision of DACS\, and is a co-chair for the ALA Digital Preservation Interest Group.\n      \n      \n For registration and more information\, please visit METRO's website: http://metro.org/events/223/
