Founded in 1979, the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (ART) is a not-for-profit organization representing a diverse group of more than 400 archivists, librarians, and records managers in the New York metropolitan area. It is one of the largest local organizations of its kind in the United States with members representing more than 160 repositories.
MISSION
To educate the public about the legal, historical and cultural value of public and private archives and manuscript collections.
To provide a forum, through monthly meetings, where members of the archival community can discuss issues of concern.
To promote professional development through continuing education workshops and professional education opportunities.
To advocate the preservation and use of historical materials.

Between the months of September and June, ART holds monthly meetings at repositories around the city, which focus on practical and professional issues, or the relation of the profession to topics of current public interest.
